ABO Energy – producing wind and solar power

ABO Energy is a pioneer of renewable energy with almost 30 years’ of experience in developing and building wind and solar farms worldwide. Professional team consisting of 60 specialists representing multiple various expertise areas is dedicated to work for a better future. Renewable energy programs require mastering all steps both in planning and implementation phases.

To ensure reaching the strategic objectives, the company’s management team decided to start a training program in spring 2024, aimed at developing the critical project management and leadership skills – to strengthen planning skills and to enhance stakeholder influence abilities. Talent Network was chosen as a partner with company’s CEO Jori Kosonen as responsible for the training process.

Common way of working as fuel for project success

"Our goal was to strengthen and to clarify our shared operating model as well as management and leadership principles. Several common practices had already been established so we wanted to take them to the next level – to clarify the overall picture, to deepen the shared understanding of prioritization and to strengthen goal orientation with the support of external expertise. During the training, we learned a lot and gained new perspectives and are currently working to transform what we learned into practical operating models," says Amanda Cardwell, Head of Development. “We also wanted to emphasize the importance of quality and systematic way of working. Additionally, we consider identifying stakeholder-related development trends and proactively responding to them as a key part of effective operations,” adds Elina Arponen, Team Lead.

Feedback from project managers and team leaders

An external view of the company's project management level and methods was seen as an excellent fuel for further development. Coach Jori Kosonen's way of guiding the coaching and bringing out peer knowledge and concrete experience provided fresh perspectives and ideas for his own work. Discussions and sparring exercises among colleagues supported the overall outcome of the coaching process very well.
